
Two days Chinese painting and calligraphy workshops on Saturday 3rd May and Sunday 11th May

Hello Everyone,
Due to the popularity of our art workshops, we are pleased to let you know that Guanghwa Bookshop has organised two days Chinese painting and calligraphy workshops on Saturday 3rd May and Sunday 11th May.
There will be four sessions altogether: the cost for each session is £25. If you join all four sessions will be £95.
The Venue is at the bookshop, and we will provide the materials for the workshops.
• Session One: Morning Painting Workshop on Saturday 3rd May from 11:30 am to 14:00 pm.
Topics: How to paint Wisteria, Roses, and Bees. This session is suitable for Beginner and above Level
• Session Two: Afternoon Calligraphy Workshop on Saturday 3rd May from 15:15 pm to 17:45 pm
Topic covered: The history of the evolution of Chinese calligraphy. How to hold the brush and use inks to practice strokes on grass paper in order to be able to write characters (calligraphy).
This session is suitable for a complete beginner.
• Session Three: Morning Painting Workshop on Sunday 11th May from 11:30 am to 14:00 pm
Topics: How to paint Traditional Chinese Landscape. This session is suitable for Beginner and above Level.
• Session Four: Afternoon Calligraphy Workshop on Sunday 11th May from 15:15 pm to 17:45 pm
Topic covered: The teacher will show you the different scripts of Chinese calligraphy and there will be practice writing them.
This session is suitable for Beginners, and for those who have done some calligraphy sessions before and want to refresh their skills.
Painting and Calligraphy Tutor: Mr Jian Chu Xu
Mr. Xu started to learn Chinese calligraphy in 1980 under the supervision of late calligrapher Mr. Laoyun Yu who was a famous Chinese calligrapher. Mr. Xu is the chairman of the Chinese Poetry Calligraphy & Painting Society of UK, Honorary Principal of Shifu Art College of China. He received an excellence award in the Chinese calligraphy competition in 2014.
